This year I have been making one piece in one day once week. Having to make something in one day is sometimes just as terrible as it sounds. However it has proved to be a good exercise. Forcing myself to make something in one day helps me get out of my own head and stop overthinking things. If the projects turns out to be crap that’s how it is going to be. I have to move on to the next project and not allow myself to go back and fix, or correct.
This souvenir hair clip frames/holds a matchbox from a special night out. This one-a-day project commemorates the moments we wish to hold on to.
This is a detail shot of the matchbox hair clip to show the the matches are still very accsessable.
This Piece above is a one day project made out of copper and enamel. Three keys on a ring are said to be good luck. Thinking on good luck charms I realized my own superstitious thoughts. After my two car accidents I can't help think about of the phrases “3rd times the charm” and "death comes in threes”. I figured I would make the number 3 work in my favor as a protection. The dream catcher references my nightmares in regards to the accidents.
This one-a-day hair set was made out of found materials. These each “container” is placed over one of your two buns and then held in place by sticking the spoon pin through container and bun.
Fragment set is made up of 5 pieces. Two of which are large enameled hair combs with incorporated found material. These larger pieces are complimented by small enameled hair combs. These combs can be worn together or individually.
These hair clips are created out of copper and found plastic.
